Book keeping, done by software
Your paperwork, read, checked and ready for your accountant.
Kasora Book Keeping collects your financial documents, stores them, reads what they say into a ledger that is checked against the paper, and builds the files your accountant asks for each year. Your accountant still prepares and files the return.
What it does
Most of the work happens on its own once a document is uploaded. These are the parts it handles today.
Upload, read and name
Upload statements, tax forms and receipts. Kasora reads the text, uses OCR on scanned pages, works out what kind of document each one is, and gives it a clear name and a short summary.
Figures read off tax forms
It reads the boxes on forms such as W-2s, 1099s, 1098s and K-1s, and every figure keeps a link to the document it came from.
A ledger that has to balance
Bank and card statements become double-entry ledger entries. A statement is only written in when its rows agree with the balances the statement itself prints. Other currencies are converted at published Federal Reserve and Treasury rates.
Categories and transfers
Rules sort transactions into categories that map to tax lines, and payments between your own accounts are paired so that moving money is not counted as spending.
What the year still needs
For each tax year it lists the documents the year calls for, which of them are already in, and what is still missing, with what would fill each gap.
A package for your accountant
It builds one download per return: the year's documents, named and grouped, and a summary workbook of what each form says and what is still open.
Loans checked against the lender
Each loan gets an amortization table, held to the cent against the balances, rates and interest your lender prints, and any difference is named.
QuickBooks and Zoho Books
Connect QuickBooks Online and Zoho Books to read a company's books directly. Nothing is ever deleted there, and every change is shown to you before it is sent.
A second look at the draft
When your accountant sends a draft return, each line can be held against what your own documents say, and any line that disagrees is pointed out.
How it works
Three steps, repeated each tax year.
Upload your paper
Add statements, tax forms and other records as they arrive, in any order. Scans and photos of pages are fine.
Kasora reads and checks it
Each document is read, recorded and checked against its own totals, and the year's list of what is still missing is kept up to date.
Hand it to your accountant
Download the year's package and send it on. When the draft return comes back, check it against what your documents say.
About Kasora
Kasora collects and stores your financial information and makes reports you can hand straight to your accountant. It does not prepare or file tax returns. Your accountant does that, with every figure and every page the work needs already in one place.
Everything it records points back to the document it came from, so any number can be checked against the paper.
